Fireside Luxury

Explore The Lowell's Ultimate Urban Hideaway
Slow-Burning Apple Wood

There’s nothing like warming yourself in front of a roaring fire after coming inside from the cold. In the chillier months, while you’re out and about in New York City, running between meetings, window-shopping on Madison Avenue, or strolling through Central Park, arrange for an attentive butler at The Lowell on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, to prepare your fireplace with a bundle of Pennsylvania apple wood which he will light upon your return.

The sweet scent of this slow-burning aromatic wood is one of the most desirable, and as it generates little smoke, it also makes for a more environmentally friendly fire. To complement the cozy moment, your butler will present you with an array of essential oils in calming scents like rosemary, eucalyptus, red thyme, Atlas cedar, and tea tree, to drop into the fire for an enhanced sensory experience.

The Lowell uses premium Pennsylvania apple wood in its real wood-burning fireplaces, featured in 33 of the hotels 74 rooms and suites.
There is nothing cozier than enjoying a good book by the warmth of a wood-burning fireplace, a true luxury in New York City.
Choose from a selection of essential oils and botanical fragrances for a fresh aromatic experience to complement your fire.
Wrap yourself in an alpaca throw and select a book from your in-room library as you cozy up by the fire.
The Ultimate Comfort

Once your butler has lit the fire and it begins to roar, retire to a cozy armchair, wrapped in a soft alpaca throw, dressed in the hotel’s signature pajamas, and select a book from your in-room library. We recommend calling room service for a variety of treats prepared by chef de cuisine, Michael Fred, who will gladly send up snacks like a savory charcuterie plate filled with cheeses and cured meats, a selection of dainty petit fours, or your favorite bottle of wine. Don't forget to put your complimentary in-room Bluetooth speakers to good use by playing your favorite album or playlist, should the mood strike.

A stay at the Lowell is a little bit of home-away-from-home, thanks to the elegantly appointed interiors curated by Michael Smith; suites with small but convenient kitchens, and original wood-burning fireplaces in 33 of the intimate hotel’s 74 rooms. In fact, it just might be better than home.

The fireplace experience is available from September 21 to June 21 each year, 24 hours a day. To learn more about The Lowell or to arrange for a fireside experience during your next stay, please contact the concierge upon making a reservation.
