Mayfair Contemporary

There is a worthwhile study of British art to be had inside Rocco Forte Brown's Hotel. HIX Mayfair, the 117-room hotel’s main dining room, which is as focused on exquisitely prepared dishes as it is contemporary art, plays gracious host to Tracey Emin's illuminated work, I Love You More Than I Can Love, which joins other original works like Toby Ziegler's Symbolic Impasse featuring a Bonsai tree meant to transform the work from a landscape painting into actual terrain, and a vivid abstract canvas Untitled (Orange, Black, And Green) by Fiona Rae. The arresting works throughout the hotel, curated by Olga Polizzi, Rocco Forte Hotels design director, enhances every room of the property.

The walls of the Donovan Bar, for instance, named for celebrated British fashion photographer Terence Donovan, are lined with more than 50 of his black and white prints. Even the English Tea Room regularly doubles as a gallery for exhibitions by notable artists.

You'll drop in to John Martin on Albermarle Street, who specializes in contemporary painting, during your art tour of Mayfair.
