Diana Garden At El Palace Barcelona

El Palace Barcelona’s Diana Garden Invites Visitors On A Sensory Exploration
Sky High

While the idea of a rooftop garden may evoke visions of wrought iron and plenty of greenery, El Palace Barcelona's stunning top-floor, outdoor terrace, the Diana Garden, is that and so much more. Five different spaces allow admiration from on high, quite literally.

Pergolas, fountains, ponds, plants—more 50 varieties of flora, in fact—a restaurant specializing in haute cuisine, and a solarium where the magic happens at sunset, come together for a tranquil escape from the bustling city. And with enough to keep every sense occupied, it may be difficult to imagine ever reconnecting with the real world below.

The crown jewel of El Palace Barcelona, the rooftop was designed as an airy invitation to stimulate the senses of sight, sound, smell, and touch.

In The Details

If you look closely enough, you can see small details, subtle tributes devoted to the historical city. Enjoy a glass of cava under the Pergola Ciutadella, whose design takes its cue from the Umbracle, a century-old tropical greenhouse at the city's oldest park.

At the Sagrada Familia Pergola, named for the famous Antoni Gaudí church, delicate scents of orange blossom surround a sculpture of Diana in homage to the monument of the Roman goddess standing on Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes. A strategically placed telescope allows guests a close up view of the actual Sagrada Familia.

The outdoor pool, the gem of the rooftop retreat, was designed by the hotel's original owner, César Ritz, and inspired by ancient Roman baths. Look out over all of Barcelona from your bamboo armchair at the charming Winter Garden restaurant. Cast-iron furniture is inspired by antique designs, while the armchairs date back to the hotel's early 20th-century beginnings.

Take in the full experience at the hotel's highest point, the solarium, where at the end of the day the perch atop the city promises a perfect view of a shimmering sunset.

Sweet aromas and colors come alive with every step among the abundant botanicals and water features. At El Palace Barcelona's Diana Garden, the city is forever in full bloom.
